Dolomites Val Gardena is your holiday destination at the heart of the Dolomites and can be reached quickly and easily in many different ways. If you’re coming by car, simply take the A22 Brennero motorway; if not, you can also take the train, bus, or even the plane! Shuttle and driving services are available every day from different airports directly to your accommodation.

Travelling by car

Val Gardena can be reached using the Brenner motorway (A22). Coming from the north, follow the route Innsbruck - Brennero - Chiusa. Coming from the south, follow Verona - Trento - Bolzano. Take the Chiusa/Val Gardena exit. Following the well-marked roads, you should reach Ortisei in about 20 minutes, then S. Cristina and Selva Gardena. At the end of the valley, you come to the Dolomite pass ways. They are only a few minutes away. You do not need a car to get around in Val Gardena. The lifts depart directly from the single towns and there is also a good organised bus service.

Travelling by train

You have only to sit down and relax with your children ready to discover the charm and magic atmosphere of the mountains of South Tyrol. From Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium there are good IC and EC connections, stopping in Munich, Innsbruck, Brennero, Bressanone and Bolzano. From here you can continue by public busses (timetable), Südtirol Transfer or local taxis to Val Gardena.

FRECCIALink Dolomites Val Gardena

In the Dolomites and Val Gardena directly with the "Frecce" of Trenitalia. Departures from Rome, Florence, Milano, Bologna, Verona and the main Italian cities. The journey continues with FRECCIALink. Arrival directly to Val Gardena: Ortisei, S. Cristina and Selva Val Gardena. And if you want to travel even more comfortably, take advantage of the "Easy Luggage" or "Insam Express" service. You will find your bags directly at your destination.

In the summer there will be three new Frecciarossa connections, in fact the direct Frecciarossa Bolzano - Milan will be reinstated, to which will be added, during the weekend, the Frecciarossa to Ancona and Venice. Below are the specific stops:

  • Frecciarossa Bolzano - Milan: with stops in Ora, Trento, Rovereto, Verona, Peschiera del Garda and Brescia. Here are the timetables: outward journey 08:45-11:45, return 15:45-18:48 (same timetable as in winter)
  • Frecciarossa Bolzano - Ancona: direct connection at weekends, with stops in Trento, Rovereto, Verona, Bologna, Rimini, Riccione, Cattolica, Pesaro and Senigallia. Timetable: outward journey 7.42 a.m. - 12.30 p.m., return 4 p.m. - 8.40 p.m.
  • Frecciarossa Bolzano - Venice: direct connection at weekends, with stops in Trento, Rovereto, Verona, Vicenza, Padua and Mestre. Timetable: 15:23-18:12, return 09:18-12:10.

In addition, the Bolzano-Naples direct service has been restored, with a stop in Rome. The train will start in Bolzano at 05:12 and arrive in Naples at 11:23, passing through Trento, Rovereto, Verona, Bologna, Florence and Rome. Return train from Naples at 15.30, arriving in Bolzano at 21.48.

ITALO

With Italo you can travel by train from Rome to Bolzano with some daily connections, passing through Florence, Verona and Trento. The journey continues by public bus, Südtirol Transfer or local taxi to Val Gardena. And if you want to travel even more comfortably, take advantage of the "Insam Express" service. You will find your luggage directly at your destination.

The DB-ÖBB EuroCity trains

The prices start from 9 Euro with the "Special Offer”; children aged under 15 travel free if accompanied by their parents/or grandparents. Val Gardena can be reached also by the DB-ÖBB EuroCity trains leaving from Venice and Bologna. Some trains stop in Chiusa and Ponte Gardena. A bus service or local taxis brings you from the train stations to Val Gardena. Some hotels arrange a pick-up service for you.

Travelling by plane

Transfer from airports, train stations, and bus stops

Conveniently to Val Gardena and directly to your accommodation - whether you arrive by plane, train, or bus. For the last kilometers to your accommodation, you can use the extensive connecting shuttle service "Südtirol Transfer." This service connects Bolzano Airport, the train stations in Bolzano and Bressanone, as well as the long-distance bus stops in Bolzano, Chiusa, and Varna directly to your holiday accommodation in Val Gardena.

Parking options and shuttle service

If these parking lots are full:

  • Parking Plan da Tieja next to the middle school in Selva Val Gardena-S. Cristina. From here, a shuttle departs at 6:00 a.m. to the Col Raiser cable car valley station.
  • Parking Ruacia (Iman), if the Anri parking lot is also full, we recommend parking at the Iman center in S. Cristina. A shuttle also departs from here at 6:30 a.m. to the Col Raiser cable car valley station.

The shuttle service operates until 9:00 a.m. and is also available for spectators. There is no shuttle service for the return trip.

  • The underground train "GardenaRonda" is not in operation early in the morning.
    Operating hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It connects the Col Raiser valley station (finish area) with the Saslong valley station, about 500 meters from the Iman parking lot.
